Why have you chosen to be part of this year's Equestival Adult Camp?

Equestival is a concept that I have been developing over the past five years with the sole purpose of creating a festival vibe for equestrians. Wellington Riding offers the perfect facilities to give people the opportunity to try something new, like another discipline or challenge. The non-ridden activities are also very exciting and will allow riders the chance to spend some time working on improving themselves to better understand or ride their horses.

Why have you chosen to be part of this year's Equestival Adult Camp?

I decided to get involved with Equestival as I believe it's a great opportunity for riders and horses to access the knowledge and experiences of multiple coaches from different backgrounds, whilst sharing their own experiences with other riders. As a coach, it's a fantastic way to test my comfort and expertise with the support of the Equestival community.

Professional Achievements

  • UKCC Level 3 Coach

  • NVQ Level 3 in Sports Coaching

  • International Placings at 3* Level

  • National Placings at 1.50m

Why have you chosen to be part of this year's Equestival Adult Camp?

I love to teach and work on test riding, but I was very excited for the opportunity to come back to Wellington as a Coach with such fantastic facilities. I took some of my exams here when I was younger and I was David’s competition groom for a while too, so it’s great to be back. Even better when it's more than they first thought!

Professional Achievements

  • Winning my first National title back in 2017 the Elementary Silver at the Nationals.

  • Winning the Medium Silver Winter Championships back in 2018.

  • A double Advanced Medium win at the Regionals of 2019.

  • Representing Team Southern throughout the years from BYRDS all the way up to seniors, finishing my final senior year winning the PSG Inter Regionals at Wellington.

  • Successfully competing at Small Tour and being selected for my first CDI International last year.

  • Training my horse Lorenzo all the way to Grand Prix myself.

KYLIE RODDY FBHS

EVENTING EXPERT

Why have you chosen to be part of this year's Equestival Adult Camp?

Born in Hendon, London, in 1982, Kylie is a BHSI who has worked with horses since she left school at 16. She has dedicated her life to eventing and has worked very hard to achieve the successes she has had to date. In 2000 she left home to join Olympic gold medallist Leslie Law as a working pupil. She spent four hard but enjoyable years working with Leslie, during which time she produced her first horse to 3* level.

Professional Achievements

  • Awarded the Fellowship of the British Horse Society in March 2022

  • Producing young horses for the young horse championships; Kylie has qualified multiple horses for the 5 and 6 year old eventing championships.

  • Retraining racehorses; Kylie has enjoyed successes with Adrian and Maggie Smith’s ex-racehorses, What’s it All About II and Laurentian Lad and Bronte Watson’s Acquisitor.

  • Difficult or sharp horses who need a sensitive approach. Kylie’s vast-ranging experience with different types of horses’ means she is very adaptable to an individual horse and recognises that “one size” does not fit all.
